A Beautiful Rural Community

La Ribera is home to roughly 2000 people and is primarily populated by fishermen, farmers, ranchers, and workers in the nearby resorts. La Ribera sits on the East Cape, home to white sand beaches that stretch from Punta Pescadero to San José del Cabo.

La Ribera Offers a Casual Alternative to Overcrowded Tourist Destinations

For most, the first thing that a visitor to La Ribera will want to enjoy are the warm, white sand beaches that offer numerous opportunities for fun on the sand. For those that just want to enjoy the beaches they will find quiet and peaceful stretches of sand to go swimming in. Beachgoers can also surf, stand up paddle board, sail, and fish in these warm tropical waters. For those wanting to go blue water fishing there is even more to do with many species of fish in the Sea of Cortez, such as, Dorado, Marlin, Roosterfish, Sailfish, Tuna, and Wahoo all living in the area. These fish also grow to massive sizes in the region, offering the chance at record breaking catches.

However, for those willing to take the short drive down to the National Marine Park at Cabo Pulmo visitors can dive in the only living coral reef in Baja and see dozens of species of native tropical fish, sea lions, and much more. You can even charter guided dives as well as cruises to explore the reef and see the stunning beauty of this underwater world.

Cabo Pulmo is not the only place to interact with the beautiful marine wildlife of the area, adventures can also travel to La Paz and swim with the massive While Sharks that feed on plankton in the area or help in conservation efforts with annual baby turtle releases right in front of Casa Danza.

Yet for those that want to stay on dry land the area around La Ribera offers plenty of opportunity for fun and excitement. There are many hiking and biking trails as well as ample opportunities for camping and fun in the sun. For those of you looking to explore on ATV’s there are even charterable off road tours of the foothills around La Ribera.

Finally, for those looking to shop and experience art and culture, there are many shops and museums located in the area and can mostly be found in the popular destination of Cabo San Lucas.

For accommodations there are many nearby hotels and resorts such as the Rancho Leonero Resort and the Cabanas Vista la Ribera.

All in all, for those looking to experience the beauty and majesty of the Baja peninsula without being stuck in the popular tourist destination of Cabo, La Ribera makes an excellent base camp to explore southern Baja while still being close to many of the attractions and destinations of the region.
